To Be Read 2010

I thought I'd make a list of all the books I've bought and been given recently that are waiting to be read this year. I've just finished re-reading Harry Potter 7 and can't decide which of these to read next...

Burnt Shadows, Kamila Shamsie
The Wind on Fire Trilogy, William Nicholson
The Sea of Poppies, Amitav Ghosh
The Inheritance of Loss, Kiran Desai
The Summer Book, Tove Jansson
Gate of the Sun, Elias Khoury
Shadowmancer, G. P. Taylor
The Black Magician Trilogy, Trudi Canavan
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith

Hmm. Am leaning towards Shamsie because I read this piece on an upcoming exhibition I'm looking forward to seeing, and I thought it was beautifully written:

  1. I love your taste in books Naz. And I love Kamila too, thanks for the link to the article. I want to go see the exhibition too! x

  2. Most excellent list, I shall investigate some myself.

I'll be interested (because I have already read them) to see what you think of Tracie Caravan (I misread her name on the cover and ended up calling her that for ages, oops), Shadowmancer and Pride and Prejudice with Zombies....

  3. I'll definitely post about them when I get to them g_k - but I've just started Burnt Shadows and am getting engrossed already so it may be a while!

randomlondongirl - it looks fascinating doesn't it? I'm particularly happy that it covers Pakistan and Bangladesh and not just India (though the Whitechapel couldn't really get away with that, Banglatown'd mob them!) x

  4. Yeh fo sho! They are like India's sidelined poor little siblings that nobody cares about. LOL I still don't get how Eastenders get away with not having a Bangladeshi family on it??
